Teeth Contouring in Ealing

Tooth contouring is mainly used to reshape teeth that are slightly damaged, uneven, or different from the rest. It is most commonly carried out on the upper front teeth — the central, lateral and canine teeth — that are most visible when you smile.

As well as improving aesthetics, contouring can also make teeth easier to clean (for example by reducing a slight overlap). It is not always the right choice — if there are underlying issues like tooth decay or significant misalignment, those need addressing first.

At your initial visit we examine your teeth and confirm that contouring is appropriate, sometimes with an x-ray. The reshaping itself is carried out at a follow-up appointment using fine polishing instruments to remove a tiny amount of enamel and sculpt the tooth into the desired shape. Most patients don't need any anaesthetic. The whole process typically takes 30–60 minutes depending on how many teeth are involved.
